All about borders

The single most important thing I learned from the latest Visual Research exercise is that borders border the line of either being completely cheesy or completely perfect.  I think that my work can be benefited by borders.  Here is an example of a photoshop created border that I like a lot:

When I go to create my final prints, which will be in the darkroom, the use of borders is something I want to explore a lot more.  Filed negative carriers and such will be involved...

  1. Ali I must say that I love the way your thesis is going! The way that you took it just a step further to make it really your own. What I am talking about is the idea of using projectors and to project your images onto your self and photograph that, or the combining and layering in photoshop, although clearly I feel more compelled to like the projections better. Its such a great idea,I feel like the images you will create by this process will really stand out and be conceptually and physically strong. I feel there is nothing better than to tell a story,a story about you or just in-bed yourself in your work because then it really means something and the results are usually strong. I just enjoy the layering physically and conceptually, i think its a really strong project you got going there for you.
